Meet Sensei Karl Jenkins

Above Sensei Karl with a group of newly graded students at the RKD Williamstown Dojo

Head Instructor of RKD Karate Williamstown Dojo

Since the age of 11, martial arts have been an integral part of my life. My journey began with Judo in 1982, a foundation that led me to ZenDoKai, a freestyle Karate system, in 1984. ZenDoKai opened the door to cross-training in various martial arts, teaching me to embrace what works and discard what doesn’t. It forged my resilience and taught me to find comfort in discomfort.

Through the years, I have discovered that martial arts is a powerful vehicle for personal growth, especially for individuals with diverse strengths and abilities. It serves as an effective therapy for those with physical and intellectual disabilities, often yielding more significant physical and mental development than traditional therapy sessions.

Martial arts have instilled in me a deep respect for others and a commitment to protecting those who cannot protect themselves. Along my path, I have met many remarkable individuals who have shared their knowledge, support, and friendship, shaping me into the person I am today.

Key Strengths:

  • Coaching and Mentoring
