RKD Karate Code of Conduct and Feedback Policy

RKD Karate is a program of CBChange Pty Ltd, a Child Safe Organisation.


Introduction

RKD Karate sets clear expectations for students, instructors, and spectators through our Code of Conduct. These standards ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive training environment for everyone. Our codes apply within the dojo, at events, and in all communications, including online.

As part of CBChange Pty Ltd, RKD Karate upholds the values, practices, and safety obligations of a Child Safe Organisation.

Code of Conduct for Students

Respect

Show respect to all instructors, fellow students, and the dojo environment. This includes bowing upon entering/leaving the dojo, using proper titles, and avoiding disrespectful behaviour.

Punctuality

Arrive on time and be prepared for class. Notify your instructor if you will be late or absent.

Safety

Follow all dojo safety rules. Wear required protective gear and follow instructions during training.

Focus

Give full attention in class. Avoid distractions like unnecessary talking, phones, or devices.

Hygiene

Maintain personal hygiene. Wear a clean gi and belt. Ensure the training area is tidy before and after class.

Attitude

Maintain a positive and supportive attitude. Help others and avoid any form of aggression, bullying, or disruption.

Learning

Approach training with openness and a willingness to learn. Practice outside of class to build your skills.

Grading

Attend grading events when invited and follow the grading panel’s instructions to the best of your ability.

Conduct

Uphold the values of RKD Karate at all times, including in public and online. Behaviours that risk the safety or reputation of others will not be tolerated.

Online Conduct

Respect others in all forms of digital interaction (e.g. emails, online forms, and messaging). Inappropriate messages may be treated as a Code of Conduct breach.

Consequences for Breaches (Students)

  • First Breach: Written warning and meeting with a staff member.

  • Second Breach: Temporary suspension and formal behaviour plan.

  • Third Breach: Possible termination of membership. Severe breaches may result in immediate action.

All breaches are reviewed seriously, prioritising the safety and wellbeing of all members.

Code of Conduct for Parents and Spectators

  • Respect the dojo and all staff

  • Remain quiet and courteous during classes

  • Avoid distractions (e.g. phone use)

  • Keep a positive, supportive attitude

  • No unauthorised photography or video

  • Keep the space clean and safe

  • Supervise children and ensure they are not disruptive

  • Follow all instructor guidance

  • Report any concerns promptly

RKD Karate operates under CBChange's Child Safe Policy. Any actions compromising the physical, emotional, or psychological safety of children or others will be taken seriously.

Consequences for Breaches (Parents/Spectators)

  • Verbal Warning

  • Written Warning

  • Suspension from attending events/classes

  • Permanent ban from RKD Karate spaces

Disciplinary responses are based on severity and history of conduct.

Feedback and Child Safety Policy

RKD Karate, under CBChange Pty Ltd, welcomes feedback to support continuous improvement. We take all child safety concerns seriously.

Reporting Concerns:

  1. Contact RKD Karate Team or CBChange Office (email, phone, or in person)

  2. Provide clear details of the concern (what, when, where)

  3. All reports are treated confidentially

  4. An investigation will be conducted immediately

  5. Written outcome and follow-up will be provided

  6. All actions will comply with relevant laws and child safety regulations
